ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mike Backman was in the 2015 Northern Stage production of Blithe Spirit (Dr. Bradman). Other local roles include Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman and James Tyrone in Long Day’s Journey into Night at Parish Players; Herr Schultz in Cabaret and Narrator/Dr. Scott in The Rocky Horror Show at Pentangle; eight productions at Shaker Bridge Theatre; as well as performances at Artistree, New Woolhouse Players, raw Shakespeare Company, and Vermont Pride Theater. As a playwright, Mike’s play, Sunset, workshopped at Northern Stage in 2017, had its world premiere at Shaker Bridge this past May. A native of Utah, Mike performed for several years at Robert Redford’s Sundance Summer Theater. He studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and taught high school theater in Utah and California. Mike works in IT at Dartmouth College and lives with his husband, Steve Swayne, in Quechee.
