ABOUT THE SHOW
Using puppetry to relate the ongoing global refugee crisis, Babylon tells seven refugees’ stories through songs that blend actual testimony with unreal figures. Puppets represent refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, El Salvador, and Burundi as the ancient city of Babylon, in present-day Iraq, becomes a metaphor for the destabilization leading the crisis. Working with the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program, Babylon questions how we understand and respond to the conflicts that exist within the countries refugees flee, as well as those in which they seek sanctuary.
