ABOUT THE SHOW
Written by Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Katori Hall The Mountaintop is a fictional reimagining of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.’s last night on earth. Following his “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech in Memphis, Tennessee, MLK checks into Room 306 at the Lorraine Motel on a warm April evening in 1968. His world is spun on its axis when he meets Camae, the motel housekeeper who delivers his room service. At first, they exchange casual remarks, but soon start a deep dialogue about MLK’s hopes and fears. When Camae reveals who she truly is, MLK must confront those fears and face his own mortality.
