ABOUT THE SHOW

When a wealthy patron of the arts commissions a grand opera to be written, and a broadway musical review to be performed on the same weekend, it seems to be a weekend of magnificent music-making. But when it turns out that there is only time enough for one performance, there is only reasonable thing to do: To combine both productions into one magnificent(?) musical free-for-all. Prima Donnas and Soft-shoing often do not go together, but in Strauss' comedic work, we are openly able to see behind the curtain and see how the show is made - and how precarious, and personality-filled, every event at the theatre can be!

Kevin Patterson: "Closing night of Ariadne auf Naxos was delightful! It was as clever and witty as intended, while also delivering the hoped-for richness of Strauss' original. Wonderful performances all around. Bravo and thank you, Barn Opera!"

Closing night of Ariadne auf Naxos was delightful! It was as clever and witty as intended, while also delivering the hoped-for richness of Strauss' original. Wonderful performances all around. Bravo and thank you, Barn Opera! I look forward to The Letters of Charlotte in December. Joshua Collier and the staff at the Barn Opera truly care for their patrons. I feel very lucky to be able to see this high level of live opera performance so close to home.

Fred Putnam Jr. : "This opera was fun to watch. The acting and singing were really good."

This opera was fun to watch. The acting and singing were really good. This small barn venue is such an intimate place. What we appreciated most, was the subtitles since this opera was sung mostly in German - especially Act 2. With the subtitles, we could follow the storyline. Without them, we would have missed that entirely. Understanding the story was half of the opera. So, thank you so much for those subtitles. Because you do that, we will be back for another opera!

Ted Allen: "A diamond in the rough. Energetic and entertaining as some talented performers sing and bounce their way through Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos."
