ABOUT THE SHOW

Take one play, break it in three parts, add three directors and three casts, and--voilà!—you've got the 8th annual directing "bake off," an engaging exploration of the “ingredients" different directors use to create the same play.

This year, "The Foreigner" by Larry Shue

When Froggy drops his pathologically shy friend Charlie off at a fishing lodge for a three day escape from his stressful life, he decides to tell everyone there that Charlie is from a foreign country to help his friend avoid making conversation with strangers. Once alone, Charlie overhears damaging revelations made in his presence with the thought that he doesn't understand a word of English. That he does fuels the nonstop hilarity of the play and sets up the wildly funny climax in this Obie Award-winning farce. Returning to Vermont Stage after almost 15 years, The Foreigner is sure to keep you laughing from start to finish.

Each performance is followed by a Q&A with the directors and audience. Stay tuned for more information about the play and the directors.
