ABOUT THE SHOW
Spinning Into Butter was named one of the best plays of 1999. The play was inspired by actual events at Middlebury College in 1983. After years of teaching at an inner-city school, Sarah Daniels, decides to relocate to the mostly white, liberal arts school of Belmont to be Dean of Students. When a black student becomes the target of a racial crime, the administration responds by staging a student forum, “Students for Tolerance.”
With a surprising plot twist, from their ivory tower, Daniels, among others, is faced with her own repressed biases and attitudes towards race and minorities.
