ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ethan Bowen (Director, Dramaturge): For just about 30 years I have made the WRVP my second artistic home and it has changed my life. They gave me my first directing job, and I’ve never looked back, having directed somewhere near 15+ productions for the company. “I mean they supported me to direct The Cherry Orchard and Bertolt Brecht’s Good Woman of Setzuan as well as Oliver! You’ve got to love a company that takes risks like that.”
But without question the greatest joy has been the now five original productions Ethan has been a Director and Dramaturge on for Dick and Dorothy. (What is the work of a Dramaturge? “I seem to have this ability to see story potential in a script and know how to get there”) Second Chance, Ransom I and II, The Singing Master, and now Rochester Light and Power. “Over and over again, I feel humbled and privileged that Dick and Dorothy entrust me with what they write and that they and the cast and crew follow my lead into the unknown. It the best kind of fun I could have.”
