Jim Thompson

Jim Thompson­ lives in the house that his father had built in 1958 in Montpelier.  You may know him as a musician who has been performing around the state since the 70’s, or as an artist whose hand-painted kites can be found in Vermont galleries, or perhaps as an elementary school teacher and assistant principal right here in town. But Jim’s first love was theater. In high school he was awarded the Theater Guild’s silver bowl for his senior year performance as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. Since then, Jim has spent more time in the orchestra pit than on stage, but still loves to step into the limelight on occasion. Jim’s original musical, Halfway There, premiered at the Barre Opera House in May of 2022. In July of 2023, our local critic said Jim almost stole the show in his role as Lurch in The Addams Family the Musical, produced by Lost Nation Theater.
