ABOUT THE ARTIST

Julie Kline is an actor, director, playwright, and producer based in Brooklyn, NY. Recent directing credits include Adam Szymkowicz' KODACHROME (DePaul's Theater School, Chicago), Aaron Posner's STUPID F**KING BIRD (Kumble Theater, Brooklyn), Erin Layton’s MAGDALEN (Edinburgh Festival Fringe) and THE IMMIGRANTS (Lyth Arts Centre, Scotland), Melissa Ritz’s BOMBSHELL OF RHYTHM (Soho Playhouse), Elizabeth Hess’ SPOILED (Stage Left), Kristen Palmer’s THE STRAY DOG (Rising Phoenix Repertory), and Jamie Cowperthwait’s HUNTINGTON (Judson Memorial Church). Writing credits include full-length play BACKYARD, currently in development. As an actor, Julie has appeared with 3Legged Dog, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Women’s Project Theater, Rising Phoenix Rep, HERE Arts Center, Japan Society, DC and NYC Fringe Festivals, and Steppenwolf Theater. Julie conceived and directed SENIORS AND THE CITY with oral historian Liza Zapol. Formerly, Julie was Literary Manager for Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, and is currently Program/Training Director for Elders Share the Arts. Julie is an inaugural grantee of the 2018 Charlene Victor and Ella J. Weiss Cultural Entrepreneur Fund, awarded by the Brooklyn Arts Council.
